Vajrasattva Purification Retreat 2022 – Letting Go and Starting Afresh

26/12/2022 @ 6:30 pm - 31/12/2022 @ 12:00 pm AEST

$20.00 – $100.00

About Event:

2022 has again been a year of challenges for many people. Vajrasattva is a purification practice, common to all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The practice is done in conjunction with visualization, recitation of mantras and the application of the four opponent powers of purification (the skillfully applied powers of regret, reliance, the antidote and commitment).

According to Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the spiritual head of Chenrezig Institute: ‘Vajrasattva practice is so important generally, and especially nowadays in the world , when there is not only global warming and many other problems. There are so many other dangers of war and sickness, cancer and covid and so many people you know are dying. There are so many illnesses and other conditions for dying.’

This retreat, scheduled between Christmas and New Year, is a perfect opportunity to reflect upon the past year, to purify our mistakes and look forward to 2023 with positivity.

As well as meditation sessions, an explanation of the Buddhist path will be given, including how to lessen our disturbing states of mind, the source of so many of our unskillful actions. There will also be time set aside for question and answer. Some experience of deity meditation is preferable but not essential.

It is important to attend the Introductory session on Monday 26 December at 6:30pm (you can so via Zoom if preferred).  We encourage retreat participants who are able to please arrive early on Monday and help us prepare the gompa from 2pm onwards.

Single day registration is also available. You may book as many days in this way as you wish.

Although there are no legal requirements around covid restrictions at the moment (and this may of course change), we are always mindful that we have vulnerable people in our community, which includes some of our staff, visitors and sangha members.

In addition, we have had to prematurely end one of our retreats this year due to a COVID outbreak during the event.

We therefore request that you seriously consider our requests in this regard, for your own and others’ benefit.

In order to attend one of our retreats we strongly suggest that participants do a RAT test at home on the day of joining the retreat and we encourage people to wear masks in the gompa and any congested areas, especially if you have any respiratory symptoms no matter how minor.

The recommended contribution for the whole retreat is $250 (with a minimum fee of $100).

Should the amounts of the recommended contributions be too much for you, please contact spc@chenrezig.com.au to request a further discount. Never let finances get in the way of your listening to the Dharma.
Sangha are invited to attend our courses free of charge but are always required to register..
