About Event:

Sunday Teachings with Geshe Tsultrim

Resident teacher, Geshe Phuntsok Tsultrim offers general teachings almost every Sunday (not the second week of the month when our Discovering Buddhism program is scheduled). These are suitable for everyone, inspiring us and helping us to live a happier and more useful life. The actual topic will be announced when Geshela returns from his current visit to India, but rest assured, it will be relevant for us all!

On these Sunday teachings Geshela will be usually joined by zoom by interpreter Ven Dorje from Atisha Centre who will also be interpreting for our Basic Program teachings (see details here). This week however (23/4/2023), Ven Dorje will be visiting the centre and will translate in person in the gompa.

About teacher:

Our resident Tibetan teacher, Geshe Phuntsok Tsultrim is immensely popular for the warm and approachable way in which he presents the teachings and inspires our community. He became a monk at Sera Je Monastery in India, where he was awarded his Geshe degree (the equivalent of a doctorate in Buddhist studies) in 2005. He began teaching at Chenrezig Institute in 2014 after being specifically chosen for our community by Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Geshe Tsultrim has a warm-hearted, caring and practical approach to teaching Dharma. He has been the resident Geshe at Chenrezig Institute since 2014 and since then, he has taught Dharma both formally in the Gompa, and by the example he sets amongst the community. He teaches these Sunday teachings in Tibetan with the help of an excellent new translator Ven Dorje from Atisha Centre by zoom. THis week only Ven Dorje will be here at the centre so please come along to welcome him and thanks him for helping us all in this way.

Ven. Dorje grew up in South Africa. He ordained in 2003 and lived and studied at Nalanda Monastery in France and Instituto Lama Tzong Khapa in Italy, before moving to India in 2010. After studying Tibetan at Sera Monastery for three years, he graduated from the FPMT’s translator programme in Dharamsala in 2014. He has been translating at Atisha Centre in Bendigo since 2016.
