Preparing for a new round of Discovering Buddhism – Introduction to Buddhism with Ven Tony – Weekend 2

13 April @ 9:30 am - 14 April @ 3:30 pm AEST

About Event:

In conversation, Venerable Tony and Eva Tsai (one of the Discovering Buddhism Dharma Jewels group, a group who have worked through this whole FPMT Program) came up with some ideas for courses we could present to support students going into the new round of Discovering Buddhism which will begin in May, 2024.

These two weekends (one in March – another in April) will function as both revision for existing students, and as a primer for newer students on the topics that are covered in the Discovering Buddhism modules.

Venerable Tony will use a Lamrim presentation as his outline and base the weekends on the very successful Introduction to Buddhism courses run at Tushita Centre in Dharamsala and Kopan Monastery in Nepal.

There will be plenty of time in the schedule for Q&A, discussion, and meditation, as we explore how to integrate the presentations we receive into our daily lives.

Ven Tony will present two of these valuable weekends in March and April, and it is great to attend both, but it’s also fine to attend just one, or even just one day if that’s all that is possible!

About Teacher:

Ven Tony first made contact with the Buddha-dharma in Nepal and India in 1976. Following this, he trained and worked as a psychiatric nurse, and then in the 1980s was based at Chenrezig Institute during which time he served at different times as the cook, office worker, and gardener.

Following ordination as a monk in 1991, he lived at various FPMT centres including for eight years at Nalanda Monastery in France and nine at Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery in Bendigo where he was director for four of those. Venerable Tony was also director of IMI for three and a half years. He has led retreats and courses at FPMT centres throughout the world, as well as teaching in prisons and schools. Venerable Tony is now back living at Chenrezig Institute and we are very grateful that he is assisting with this weekend course.

The recommended contribution for this weekend is $120.

BUT – under our new payment policy, you may pay whatever you feel comfortable with starting at only $1

Offering the course at a $1 payment will make sure anyone at all will be able to attend.

A payment of $30 will be very helpful
