Medicine Buddha Retreat Weekend for Healing and Reconciliation with Geshe Tsultrim and Ven Tony Beaumont

25 January @ 6:30 pm - 28 January @ 12:00 pm AEST

Medicine Buddha meditation is a healing practice treasured by many in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition. We can practice it for ourselves, or for someone we care about who is ill. Or we can use it to help create a positive healing energy and send it as far and wide as we can visualise.

In the interests of healing and reconciliation at every level of our lives, our own minds and experience, our relationships with our families and friends, our connections across all our social and cultural diversity and stretching out to encompass the welfare of all sentient beings, without a single exception, Chenrezig Institute is happy to host this Medicine Buddha Retreat Weekend.

Geshe Tsultrim will teach daily and we are grateful to Venerable Tony who has kindly agreed to lead this retreat over the culturally significant long weekend of January 26.

About our Teacher:

Our resident Tibetan teacher, Geshe Phuntsok Tsultrim is immensely popular for the warm and approachable way in which he presents the teachings and inspires our community. He became a monk at Sera Je Monastery in India, where he was awarded his Geshe degree (the equivalent of a doctorate in Buddhist studies) in 2005. He began teaching at Chenrezig Institute in 2014 after being chosen for our community by Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Geshe Tsultrim has a warm-hearted, caring and practical approach to teaching Dharma. He has been the resident Geshe at Chenrezig Institute since 2014 and since then, he has taught Dharma both formally in the Gompa, and by the example he sets amongst the community.

About our retreat leader:

Ven Tony first made contact with the Buddha-dharma in Nepal and India in 1976. Following this, he trained and worked for four years as a psychiatric nurse, and then in the 1980s was based at Chenrezig Institute during which time he served at different times as the cook, office worker, and gardener.

Following ordination as a monk in1991, he lived for seventeen years at Nalanda Monastery in France and served as director at Thubten Shedrup Ling monastery in Bendigo. He has led retreats and courses at various FPMT centres throughout the world, as well as teaching in prisons and schools. Ven Tony lived at Chenrezig Institute until recently and we are fortunate that he is now returning to lead this special retreat.
