A special visit from Geshe Sherab

15/02/2023 @ 10:30 am - 19/02/2023 @ 4:30 pm AEST

$45.00 – $135.00

About Event:

We rejoice in the return of Geshe Thubten Sherab, one of the younger generation of fully trained Geshes to come from Kopan Monastery. Geshela visited Chenrezig Institute most recently in 2018 and is well-loved for his inspiring and practical teachings, which he gives in English!

Geshela will teach at 10.30am on the first three mornings -Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (15th, 16th, 17th Feb) – on the powerful method of Equalising and Exchanging Self with Others, and then give a full weekend of teachings on the Seven-fold Cause and Effect Method.

Those who decide to immerse themselves for the entire five days will be able to enjoy the peaceful life of the centre and the many holy objects, including the beautiful Nalanda Masters Garden and the memorial Garden of Enlightenment. They will attend a Guru Puja on the Wednesday evening and a guided meditation with one of our senior students on the Friday afternoon. At other times the Gompa and Tara Room will be available for private meditation and our extensive library is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10.00am to 2.00pm.

Join us for 5 days of developing the precious mind of enlightenment (bodhicitta) the core of our mahayana motivation – wishing to attain full enlightenment in order to be able to benefit all beings!

There are two methods through which we develop the mind of enlightenment outlined in our teachings, and Geshela has agreed to teach on The Method of Equalising and Exchanging Self with Others during teachings from 10:30am to 12:00pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday  (15th,16th, 17th Feb)

And he will then give a weekend teaching (two main teachings on both Saturday and Sunday 18th&19th February) on The Seven-Fold Cause and Effect Method

Students are welcome to attend part or all of this precious program. News about the weekend course – Peter Shepherd has agreed to facilitate a discussion session after lunch on both days! Schedule Geshe Sherab 2023

Accommodation and food should be booked through info@chenrezig.com.au and an accommodation reduction of 20% will be offered to those wishing to stay at the centre during the entire time, ie Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

The cafe will be fully open during the five days. Bookings are necessary 24 hours in advance here.

About Teacher:

Geshe Thubten Sherab was born in Nepal of Tibetan parents, and received his education at Kopan Monastery, Nepal, the spiritual center of the FPMT. He completed his studies at Sera Jey Monastic University and at Gyume Tantric College in India. He has lived in the USA working at the FPMT Central office and several nearby Dharma Centers in Taos, New Mexico.

He returned to Nepal after several years in the U.S. to become Headmaster of Kopan Monastery. Geshe-la has retired from the this role in order to have more time to devote to meditation and to teaching internationally. For the last few years, he has been travelling and teaching at FPMT Centers in USA, Canada, Mexico, Asia and Europe.

FPMT’s Mandala magazine published a story about Geshe Sherab which you can read here: The Master from the New Generation.
